The new SPEEDTV.com website
now working well
When SPEED launched its new website design
-- complete with a new listings page -- I was pretty critical of the new
listings setup. I pointed out that their listings database was pretty
screwed up and said that, even when they had fixed the obvious bugs, the
design was still going to be clunky and awkward to use.
In fairness, I must revisit that
assessment. Now, six weeks or so since the initial launch, the listings
display is working pretty well. The serious bugs have long since been fixed
and, moreover, they have done a redesign of some of the original features --
a redesign that addresses all my initial concerns. Now you see the whole
day's listings in one go and the whole week's display comes up without a
hitch.
There are still a few minor glitches but
they are insignificant --and I'm sure they will eventually be debugged. All
the big problems have been solved.
Why am I talking about a 'rival' TV
listings service? First, because there are many programs broadcast by SPEED
that I do not list on Race Fan TV. I try to stick to race broadcasts and
race-related shows only. If you want to know about the other stuff on SPEED,
you should go to their website.
Second, if you have found your way here you
already know that the Race Fan TV listings are superior because they include
much more detail about the programs listed than SPEED's listings do and
because you don't have to wade through all that non-race 'filler' in SPEED's
broadcast schedule.
